Waking the Dead

In Tokyo in December 2016, Ferrari introduced the Ferrari J50.

Built for the Japanese market as a celebration of Ferrari’s 50th anniversary in Japan

It has a minimal production run of 10 sold only to long-standing Ferrari clients.

Owning a Ferrari J50 is like being on a first-name basis with the Pope. Rare and slightly surreal.

It is a two-seater, mid-engined targa-style roadster with a two-piece removable carbon fibre canopy.

The classic Ferrari’s of the 70s and 80s influenced the design.

A black dividing line on the J50 (aka. Helmet Visor) pays homage to the legendary Ferrari GTO, F40 and F50.

The Ferrari 488 Spider was the base model for the J50.

It sports a 3.9-litre V8 twin-turbo engine that produces 690 bhp via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

It reaches 60 mph in approximately 3 seconds and has a top speed of over 200 mph.

Each genesis is tailored to the buyer’s specifications.

Although the price is not disclosed, what is known is that it is significantly higher than the 488 Spider.

‘The J50 isn’t just a car; it’s a mid-life crisis with four wheels and an exhaust note that could wake the dead’
