‘V10s. The earth-shaking, eardrum-punching symphony of motorsport.‘
And they might just be returning this time on carbon-neutral fuel.
The FIA is flirting with the idea of ditching the soulless hybrids for something with proper lungs and proper noise.
Too good to be true? Possibly.
But it’s not as mad as it sounds…
Here’s What We Know – So Far:
The FIA is considering bringing back naturally aspirated V10 engines in 2026 but powered by 100% sustainable fuel.
It’s all part of the FIA’s mission to make F1 net zero by 2030 without turning the sport into a tech conference on wheels.
These new fuels, created from captured carbon and renewable energy, could power big engines without harming the planet.
Porsche, Audi and Shell are already deep into developing synthetic e-fuels that don’t rely on dinosaur juice.
FIA insiders believe V10s strike the perfect balance of performance, simplicity and soul-stirring sound.
Fans hate the current hybrid whirr. Drivers aren’t thrilled, either.
One FIA official summed it up best: ‘You shouldn’t need subtitles to feel an overtake.’
Why It Matters
Because sound matters. Emotion matters.
And Formula 1, once the loudest, proudest sport on Earth, might finally be about to get its voice back.
Engines that didn’t so much purr as howl like a banshee being launched into low Earth orbit.
‘The kind of noise that made small children cry and grown men weep with joy.’
