Lotus is ready to change the future of sports cars with its newly unveiled Theory 1 concept car.
This is the first entry in the brand’s new design concept, the Lotus Theory 1, and it promises to be a tech-forward car that ‘embodies the future of intelligent performance vehicles.’
The Theory 1 produces 986 bhp of electric power, can go from 0 to 62 mph in under 2.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 199 mph.
It is all-wheel drive and weighs under 1,600kg. The suspension integrates an active rear spoiler for optimal downforce.
It offers compact dimensions, a three-seat layout, and a central driving position inspired by the McLaren F1.
The body is constructed from recycled chopped carbon fibre and cellulose-based glass fibre.
The Lotuswear system features automatic seat bolster adjustments, a haptic feedback steering wheel, a steer-by-wire system, and a built-in binaural audio system.
The interior is tailored to the human body, with a movable steering wheel and pedals that move forward.
It has a digital system using light projections on the windscreen for obstacle detection and navigation.
The Lotus Theory 1 confirms the marque’s new ideology, ‘DNA,’ which stands for design, nature, and analogue.
No production plans exist, but elements will likely feature in future models.
