It doesn’t seem three years have passed since Stirling Moss left this mortal coil; on 12 April 2020, aged 90.
And his beloved wife, Susie, died on 18 March 2023, aged 69.
Sir Stirling Craufurd Moss OBE, the racing driver who was considered by many, as the greatest driver who had never won a world championship.
He won 212 of the 529 races he entered across an array of motorsports. He won 16 Grand Prix before an accident in 1962 when he crashed his Lotus in the Glover Trophy. The accident put him in a coma for a month and ended his spectacular career.
Lady Susie Moss’s sister Tina said, ‘Susie’s death owed more to a broken heart rather than any clinical condition. She never recovered after Stirling left us. Their marriage was the greatest love story I have ever known.’
Susie was the powerhouse behind Stirling, always at his side but shunning the limelight.
She had been seldom seen since Stirling passed, except at Goodwood’s tribute to Stirling in 2022.
She was driven around the Goodwood circuit by the Duke of Richmond.
