‘The Market Hasn’t Lost Its Appetite. Just Its Patience.’

▪️October has produced some fascinating results.

▪️Collectors are spending millions, although apparently no longer prepared to throw money at anything wearing a prancing horse.

The numbers tell the story:

▪️Ferrari LaFerrari: €5.18 million at Broad Arrow’s Zoute auction, establishing a Belgian collector-car auction record.

▪️Porsche 918 Spyder: €3.21 million at the same sale, demonstrating continued demand for exceptional modern hypercars.

▪️Lamborghini Miura P400S: €1.725 million at Bonhams’ Zoute sale. Italian glamour remains reassuringly expensive.

▪️RM Sotheby’s Hershey: $13.8 million in sales and a reported 99% sell-through rate. Yet individual prices revealed a distinctly selective market.

‘The contrast is instructive.’

▪️Broad Arrow achieved a 91% sell-through rate at Zoute, while Bonhams recorded approximately 76% at its neighbouring event
.
▪️Different catalogues, certainly. But a reminder that demand is not distributed equally.

▪️For collectors, provenance, originality, specification and sensible estimates increasingly matter more than extravagant catalogue adjectives.

♔ The bottom line: The market isn’t necessarily retreating. It is becoming more discerning.

📍 ‘In the finest collecting circles, rarity commands attention. Quality commands the cheque book.’
