Mr Button’s Chevy

23 February 2023

Jenson Button received numerous options to race at Le Mans Classic but has decided on Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for team Garage 56 Nascar.

The 2009 Formula 1 World Champion will be one of an impressive team line-up comprising former Le Mans winner Mike Rockenfeller and NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson.

Jenson raced once at Le Mans in 2018, but his SMP Racing LMP1 car could not finish.

Nascar racing and Le Mans are strange bedfellows. Nascar conjures up a vision of rudimentary racing born in America, whereas Le Mans has a sense of European glamour.

Mr Button entering a Nascar race car in Le Mans may be a game-changer bridging the gap between two disciplines.

This year between June 29 to July 2, Jenson will be competing with some pretty experienced Le Sarthe racers; five-time Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro, Le Mans and F1 veteran Jan Magnussen, and two-time Le Mans GT1 winner Darren Turner.

This year’s Historic racing event is exceptional, as 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Do us proud, Jenson.
