Engineered by Lunatics

📍 ‘You could use it for the school run — if your school’s on the Nürburgring.’

Porsche has built a one-off, road-legal version of its 963 Le Mans hypercar, inspired by the iconic 917 and commissioned by none other than Roger Penske.

It’s fast. It’s rare. It might be the most expensive Porsche ever.

With Martini paint, racing DNA, and a cupholder (yes, really), the 963 RSP is every collector’s fever dream.

This isn’t your usual morning run to Pret…

1970–2020s – Legacy Sparks a Legend:

Porsche won Le Mans with the 917 in 1970. Count Rossi famously drives one from Zuffenhausen to Paris.

In 2023, whispers begin: a road-legal 963 prototype built to honour that madness.

2025 – The 963 RSP Revealed:

Commissioned by Roger Penske and built by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch team.

Named ‘RennSport Prototype’, it merges 917 nostalgia with 963 LMDh tech.

 The Specs:

A twin-turbo V8 hybrid dishes out 680 hp from its RS Spyder roots.

Carbon fibre body, active aerodynamics, Multimatic suspension, and fender vents echo a racing design.

Martini Silver paint and 1970s Michelin logos give it period flair.

Street-legal (Barely):

ECU remapped for headlights, indicators and road manners.

Cupholder added. Luggage space? The less said, the better.

Cultural Impact:

A spiritual successor to the 917/30, this may be Porsche’s wildest client commission yet.

The price is undisclosed, but ‘if you have to ask…’ applies firmly here.

📍 ‘Designed by wind tunnel, engineered by lunatics, bought by someone with fewer budget constraints than Monaco.’
