A Table at Badrutt’s

St. Moritz: Where Bentleys Meet Caviar

Every July, the Alps echo not with cowbells but with Jaguars, Astons, and Bentleys, all polished to within an inch of their walnut veneers.

This is the British Classic Car Meeting St. Moritz: part rally, part society parade, wholly glamorous.

Forget Henley, forget Wimbledon—the truly chic know their summer belongs on Alpine passes.

◼︎  In 1994. A few well-heeled Britons, weary of strawberries at Wimbledon and picnics at Henley, decreed the Alps as the only proper backdrop for their Jaguars, Bentleys, and Astons.

◼︎  Thus, the British Classic Car Meeting St. Moritz (BCCM) was born.

◼︎  Every July since, the Alpine playground of the impossibly wealthy has hosted over 100 British classics—machines built before 1980—purring through mountain passes.

◼︎ It’s equal parts Concours d’Elégance, regularity rally, and excuse for champagne breakfasts.

◼︎  In the 2000s, the event expanded, graciously permitting ‘Young Classics’ by invitation only—thoroughbreds glamorous enough to rub shoulders with old aristocracy.

◼︎ Picture a Bentley Azure parked nonchalantly beside a DB5.

The Present Day:

◼︎   The BCCM remains a season highlight for UK collectors, more Savile Row than Silverstone.

◼︎   The rally itself? Less about stopwatch precision, more about social theatre: the most elegant co-driver, the most extravagant picnic hamper, or simply the most photogenic bonnet mascot.

📍 ‘Because in St. Moritz, the real race is always to the best table at Badrutt’s Palace.’
