The Swinging Sixties

09 June 2023

Despite the Swinging Sixties being a time of cultural hedonism, it was also a time in history when the world was introduced to the Supercar.

The ‘swinging sixties’ were a time of significant change and contrast, emphasising modernity, the world was changing, and car design leapt forward.

‘Gone were the traditional three-box silhouettes of the forties and fifties, replaced by swooping curves and lines inspired by the jet age and huge advances in aerodynamic design.’

Power outputs increased; we needed to go faster and arrive earlier, all done in grand style.

During that period, a few adventurous manufacturers with a racing pedigree saw a market opportunity.

Let me recount some of the earth-shattering machinery that originated in the 60s.
