A recent American study has produced some fascinating data regarding the popularity and opinion of my favourite subject, the fantastic motor car.
According to the study, the most searches between 2019 and 2022 were for the Nissan GT-R, probably reflecting the younger age range of the respondents. The GT-R was also the most ‘searched’ on social media and most ‘hashtagged’ on Instagram, recording 1,077,867 searches, which is astounding. In perspective, the DeLorean DMC-12 collected 688,376 and the Corvette Stingray 391,900.
The most interesting fact is in respect of Classics. Although the GT-R had the most searches, second place was the Lamborghini Countach and the third position, somewhat surprisingly, the Ferrari F40. Even more surprising, the most valuable car in the world, the Ferrari 250 GTO, was in 14th place, behind the Pontiac Firebird!
A second data source, including TikTok analytics, places the Ferrari F355 as their number one result.
Over and above all of the data, what do the researchers believe to be the most incredible Classic car? You may have guessed the Lamborghini Miura.
