According to the rumour mill, McLaren will soon announce a replacement for the 720S; if the information is correct, McLaren will apresent the new car in April, with a teaser later this month.

The new car’s moniker will be the 750S; it will fit between the Artura and the 765LT in the McLaren line-up. Both coupé and spider versions will be on offer., but no long-tail version.

To be fitted with a 4.0 litre, twin-turbocharged V8 producing 740hp, the 720S produces 710hp.

As to the future, McLaren has announced a working partnership with aerospace designer Lockheed Martin Skunk Works to capitalise on the potential design for future motor cars.

Other rumours revolve around a possible SUV, even a possible Saloon, since McLaren’s previous CEO, Mike Flewitt, was vehemently opposed to SUVs, the new Michael Leiters, an engineer formerly at Porsche and Ferrari, has no such reservations.

Whatever next?

But as usual from McLaren, a standard PR statement, ‘McLaren does not speculate or comment on future product.’
