Ferrari Announces It Will Not Make ‘Arrogant’ Move to Phase Out Internal Combustion Engines.

Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna recently said, ‘I don’t want to be arrogant and impose a choice on our client.’

‘The client must choose if they want an internal combustion engine, a hybrid or an electric car.’

In March, the European Union agreed to provide an exemption allowing motor cars to run on synthetic ‘e-fuels’. Thereby allowing the continuation of the internal combustion engine.

Because the manufacturing process using renewable energy is likely expensive, the exemption will only benefit the high-performance car manufacturers in Europe.

Whilst Europe is a vast market, there are markets, for example, the UK, where no exemption currently exists.

Benedetto optimistically stated, ‘We must cope with the rules of all countries we operate in.

In 2013, when Luca di Montezemolo headed up Ferrari, he clearly expressed his sentiment, ‘Ferrari will never manufacture an electric car as long as I am chairman.’

I guess he was right!
