To Ride or Not to Ride

‘Four wheels move the Body; Two wheels move the Soul.’

Aston Martin planned to raise £575.8 million by way of a recent rights issue as significant investors, including Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, keep faith with the struggling luxury UK automaker.

The shares fell as much as 15% in early trading.

Investors will wonder if the company is heading towards financial collapse for the eighth time in its 109-year history.

The current value of Aston is approximately a tenth of its October 2018 Stock Market launch.

But for all the negativity, Aston Martin’s Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll is still remarkably buoyant.

At the very recent Milan Motorcycle Show, Aston launched their latest saviour, the AMB 001 motorcycle. The AMB 001is a Track-only maniacal two-wheeled motorised velocipede that hopefully will be the redeemer of fortunes. Aston Martin and Brough Superior created it.

This dual-cylinder 997cc engine generates 225bhp and only weighs in at 175kgs, add to this the significant increase in downforce due to its radical aerodynamic design.

Whilst optimism is a virtue, only 88 of these mechanical wonderments will be built with a launch date of late 2024. I can’t imagine this will positively affect the bottom line

I can only assume Mr Stroll knows something I do not.
