Ferrari has always been at the forefront of high-performance cars but has been surprisingly slow regarding electrification; whilst they currently offer four hybrid variants, they still need to take the final step, although it appears they are very close, with 2025 being the target.
Ferrari has lodged a recent patent stating, ‘an amplification system that reroutes the fabricated sound of an engine out of an EV.’
The noise will increase in line with the acceleration of the motor cars’ electric powerplant.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna told investors at the company’s recent capital markets day that sound is one of the ‘essentials that characterises a Ferrari’; I am sure we would all agree with that.
He said every Ferrari has its signature sound and expects that from their generation of electric vehicles.
