In the S1 Project, Modena based coach-builder Ares Design has produced a gorgeous supercar. The S1 is their first complete motor car. To date, their reputation has been outstanding designs.
‘The initial idea was as simple as it was challenging. ‘To create a car combining the design of a hypercar, supercar performance and accessibility of a sportscar.’
The Ares Design S1 is a supercar built by, not surprisingly, Ares Design, the company led by former Lotus CEO Dany Bahar. The S1 is built on the C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette, borrowing the chassis, engine, gearbox, and electronic underpinnings from the American mid-engined sports car, where the similarity ends.
The 6.2-litre V8 naturally aspirated engine produces 715hp; the wheels transmit power via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. With a claimed 2.7sec 0-62 mph.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the S1 is its price; despite its looks and performance, which rate it with most hypercars costing millions, the Ares Design S1 is only £450K.
What is even more impressive since only 24 cars are to be built, allowing each client to have the privilege to customise in whatever way they want, adding to the exclusivity.
The S1 Project had a simple brief: ‘A car to comprise hypercar design, supercar performance and a sports car price tag’, it certainly seems as though they have achieved their objective.
